DESCRIPTION
Rehabilitation of a house for housing in a protected historic center of a village in Teruel.
The house is located in the old town of Rubielos de Mora, declared a Historic Artistic Complex. The building object of action dates back to the late 16th century. The main intervention in this house was the replacement of the roof, which led to the creation of new interior and exterior spaces.
As a result, new views were discovered towards the mountains, the ancient remains of the castle and towards the roofs that outline the old town. In addition, this had to be used and maximized. So in the project sun lounges are opened, double height spaces are interrelated, natural light is introduced where it did not exist, etc. The landscape and light are accessible from multiple points inside, previously hidden and non-existent.
In the intervention of the space under cover, a resounding and sober architectural layout is used, where the spatial visual plays a very important role. In the rest of the restoration of the house, it has been absolutely respectful with the existing architecture, with the use of recovery construction materials and with a way of executing them, in the traditional artisanal way. As an accomplished objective, it could be said that the soul and essence of the old building have been rescued and enhanced, in harmonious dialogue with the new architecture introduced in the leftover.
