DESCRIPTION
During the preparation of the Territorial Strategy of the Valencian Community, the Ministry responsible for land management invited all the municipalities of the Community to present suggestions and allegations in the process open for this purpose. The great complexity and extension of the document and the prominence of small and medium-sized localities, within the orderly territory (of limited resources), determined that participation was very scarce.
This report was an exception in that process and advanced some of the problems, which today are accused and have a difficult solution, due to the excessive rigidity of the definitively approved text and the inflexible way of interpreting it. Eleven small municipalities, in the Castellón towns of Els Ports and Alto Mijares, severely affected by the depopulation phenomenon, joined and presented a document that had a wide impact on the media. Leaving aside differences, mayors of different political signs knew how to act with responsibility and commitment and presented to the Ministry a technical document prepared by AUG-ARQUITECTOS SLP, expressive of the participation that had been required. The document had no response, but favored among the promoters the consolidation of a feeling of solidarity in the face of common problems, against which they can only try to act together.
