THE LOCAL STRATEGY FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF THE URBAN CENTRE OF NAVAJAS MOVES FORWARD

The Navajas City Council (Castellón) already has the advance document of the LOCAL STRATEGY FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF THE URBAN CENTRE OF NAVAJAS. Although it has been presented under that name, the document presents a great definition and only the second phase of public participation is missing. After several months of work, in which the opinion of citizens, political parties, neighbourhood associations, staff at the service of the city council and intervening technicians has been sought, it has been decided to take advantage of the month of August to make a final survey effort, in order to know the concerns of the resident population and the floating population, who come to this beautiful Castellón town to spend the summer period.

The LOCAL STRATEGY FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF THE URBAN CENTRE OF NAVAJAS, based on all the multi-sector analyses that it incorporates, will allow us to determine the main lines that enable an improvement in the urban fabric, all of which will be reflected in the preparation of a DRAFT STRATEGIC PLAN FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT for this urban area.

The methodology used for the development of the project is structured in various stages, which correspond to the proposal made in the area of EREC by the Generalitat Valenciana and the Instituto Valenciano de la Edificación (IVE). Throughout the entire process, the methodology contemplates citizen participation in the design of the Plan, which translates into support for the mechanisms of transparency and good governance of the Multilevel Governance processes. The municipality’s citizen participation plan will develop all the processes in their different phases to carry out a full and guaranteeing participation where the opinion of the citizens will be reflected in the actions and actions that will be developed in the coming years in the municipality of Navajas.

This exciting work will allow a municipality like Navajas (very punished by the economic inheritance received) to have a motivated roadmap in accordance with the legal and methodological requirements, so that the public investments of the future respond to the real needs and demands of the population, ordered and categorized according to an order of priority.

The drafting of the LOCAL STRATEGY FOR THE REHABILITATION OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT OF THE URBAN CENTRE OF NAVAJAS has been carried out in close collaboration with the municipal technicians and with the staff of the Navajas town hall and the urban architect María José García Jiménez has played a prominent role in it.
