The City Council of Cofrentes (Valencia) has agreed to provisionally approve the Special Plan of Protection of Cofrentes Castle, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, and to send the file to the Territorial Planning Commission for final approval. This plan, drawn up by AUG-ARQUITECTOS SLP, was drawn up in compliance with the national (1985) and regional (1998) regulations on heritage protection. The file obtained the favorable report on environmental matters, issued by the autonomous environmental body on February 17, 2022, who applied the simplified regime, thus saving a lot of processing time. During the period of public exposure and consultation, no allegations were received. The reports received to date have been favourable, although the Directorate General for Heritage has yet to make a statement, whose report is decisive, given the content of the plan.
The Special Plan of Protection of Cofrentes Castle was drawn up with an important subsidy from the Department of Culture, who contributed most of the fees.
