The College of Architects of Castellón has organized a round table with the title “Depopulation of the historic centers. What happens in them? The round table was attended by Elena Azcárraga, general director of Housing and Urban Regeneration of the Valencian Community; Víctor García Gil, urban architect of AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP; Xavier Ginés, Doctor of Sociology and member of the Forum of the Nova Ruralitat of the Jaume I University; Daniel García, architect and member of the editorial team of the Urban Regeneration Areas of Castelló and Antonio Lecha, technical architect responsible for the Office of Rehabilitation of the City of Onda. The round table, moderated by Ángel Pitarch, president of the Territorial College of Architects of Castellón, addressed the complexity of a problem that seriously affects both the municipalities of the rural system, as well as most of the historical centers of the cities.
On the part of Víctor García Gil it was stressed that the processing of urban planning instruments that regulate the proposals of historic centers, special plans or interior reform, has become muddy and complicated from the eighties of the last century to the present, to the point that he considers that, from mediocrity, we are moving steadily towards incompetence.
