The City Council of Chelva (Valencia) has released the General Structural Plan and the Detailed Management Plan for public display, thus completing a process that began in 2017 with the presentation of the Draft General Structural Plan. The intervention of AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP began in 2019, after winning the contest for the drafting of the general plan.
The documentation exposed to the public is the result of the work carried out over the last two years by the drafting team, with the supervision of the Technical Assistance Service for Municipalities of the Valencia Provincial Council and the participation of technicians from the city council. With the proposed planning, an attempt is made to respond to the problems raised in a municipality whose current planning dates back to 1989 and cannot resolve the current situation, especially after the declaration of the Historic-Artistic Complex of Chelva and its orchards as an Asset of Cultural Interest, in the year 2012.
The new plan reconciles the extremely important degree of protection that affects the ordered territory (with 94.45% of the municipal area protected) with the demands of the population and a certain growth in industrial use. The land pending development for residential use, on the contrary, has been cut significantly, as the model proposed by the previous planning is unsustainable.
During the period of public exhibition, the city council has scheduled a session open to the public that will take place in the multipurpose building of the city council on July 1.
