For thirty years, the AUG-ARQUITECTOS, SLP team and its collaborators (archaeologists, paleontologists, ethnologists, etc.) have dedicated part of their professional activity to the protection of heritage, drawing up dozens of Protection Catalogues and Special Protection Plans. Most of the catalogues have been drawn up, as part of a master plan, so many have already been definitively approved and others are waiting for the same plan to be approved. All this work, which has involved a great effort not only due to the difficulties inherent in the preparation and processing of the catalogues, but also for the defense of them before the different administrations and neighbors, has allowed the protection of more than 3,300 assets . All these elements have been collected in individual files and are distributed in the province of Valencia (about 2000), in Castellón (about 1400) and in other provinces, such as Albacete. Most of the assets are architectural (1700), but there are also archaeological (500), ethnological (850), Historical Memory (26), paleontological (61), natural (53) and landscape (75).
Among the protected architectural elements there are old buildings and also samples of modern and contemporary architecture.
Currently, the team is working on the development of several Protections Catalogues for towns with significant heritage, so it is foreseeable that, in not long, the figure of 4000 cataloged assets will be exceeded. The protection of heritage is an activity that transcends the professional plane and supposes, in some way, a way of life that is suffered, seeing that we do not always arrive in time to avoid irreparable losses, but it is also enjoyed and provides incredible experiences.
